Hello, all!

I created this page to provide some important information regarding my translation methodology that I believe is important.

To be forthright, I use machine translation from Google Translate, DeepL, and ChatGPT for the works on this website.

I am nowhere the level of Japanese comprehension I need to be able to translate effectively.

I understand this comes with drawbacks, most notably in the way that the author’s intent is sometimes lost amid the mistranslations these tools commonly make. I do make an effort to extensively edit each story to ensure consistency, cohesion, and generally improve comprehensibility.

However, I felt that bringing in a dedicated translator to do work at my behest wouldn’t feel right, as ironic as that may be. I do not have the proper means to compensate them for their work.

I know many in the translation and scanlation community are volunteers, and I have massive respect for those who dedicate their time and effort to bringing our favorite mediums to the English-speaking world.

But, it is that same respect that holds me back from tying someone with their skill set to the works on this page.

I welcome translators to provide feedback on the posts here, as I will always link back the source material. Simply email the link to the page and lines that need modification to feedback@sidewaystranslations.com.

Additionally, I make a concerted effort to avoid translating something that is actively being translated by another individual, so the same email can be used to inform me if any of the translations on this website overlap with another.

Thank you for understanding, and I hope you enjoy these stories.

Best regards,
Sideways
